120 | COSERE 3.2. Staff stress management. Professional stress is widely acknowledged as one of the most challenging experiences in an individual’s professional life. It is a universal human response to various stimuli, presenting differently in each individual, yet commonly characterised by a state of tension across the body. Occupational stress can significantly impact psychological and physical well-being, mood, and the quality of work performance. Consequently, modern approaches aim to develop strategies for effective stress management. To mitigate the adverse effects of stress, it is imperative to effectively manage it. Developing efficient stress management strategies within organisations necessitates the identification and analysis of stressors, which are factors that impede well-being. In our professional endeavours, we must consider various stressors, including social (such as crises and racism), physical (like climate, noise, lighting, and pollution), biological (such as sleep deprivation, chemical dependencies, and illnesses), psychological (including anxiety, self-esteem issues, and neuroses), interpersonal (such as conflicts, familial and financial problems), and work-related factors (like mismatched rewards, work schedules, and role conflicts). While these stressors affect individuals differently, they collectively contribute to occupational stress, underscoring the importance of effective stress management
