COSERE | 99 • 5. Prototyping (1-2 hours) ◊ Modality: Work in teams ◊ Working questions: How can we display/present our problem-solving idea? ◊ Suggested methods: storyboarding, roleplaying, using Lego bricks, drawings, paintings etc. making a board. ◊ Material: Whiteboard / brown paper, sticky notes / pens / paint / paintbrushes / Lego bricks etc. Tip: fostering creativity implies a large open space so think about the right room or even outdoor space for this step. • 6. Testing (1-2 hours) ◊ Modality: Work in teams ◊ Working questions: How do we present our final idea to others? How do we explain the process that got us to that solution? What do others think of our solution? Is there anything that could be changed/improved? Are there analogies with another team’s solution? ◊ Suggested methods: depend on the choices made during the prototyping session. ◊ Material: paper, pens to take notes. Tip: Although ex-post evaluation is planned, it is good to take 10-15 minutes at the end of the session to have a circle of feedback about the experience. C) EVALUATION: Ex-post evaluation should be done at the end of the design thinking process to understand how the different stakeholders felt during the process and how they value the possibility they had to contribute to solving a problem that affects the school community. Ideally, you can do it anonymously and online. • If you want to discover the method in more detail you can go through the D-Learning Handbook (https://cesie.org/media/d-learning-manual-en.pdf) • To go further on design thinking in school leadership you can adopt the methodology and tools of the amazing Design Toolkit for Educators developed by IDEO (https://page.ideo.com/design-thinking-edu-toolkit).
